TALG — Autonomous Sign Language Translator

TALG (Tradutor Autónomo de Língua Gestual) is the Portuguese-market evolution of TALS, the sign-language translator I founded in Chile and that won the CORFO 2018 Seed Capital award.

The platform translates in real time and both ways between Portuguese Sign Language and European Portuguese: the webcam captures the sign, MediaPipe tracks the hands, a Vision Transformer classifies it and the translation engine turns it into speech; in reverse, Whisper transcribes speech and a 3D avatar renders it in LGP.

The talg.pt site is built with Astro, React islands and lazy-loaded Three.js scenes, is trilingual (PT/EN/ES) and treats WCAG 2.2 AA compliance as a design principle, consistent with the project's mission.
